Christmas Decorations

It is the time of year when Christmas decorations must be put up. Lexi and Jordan were all too eager. They insisted on digging through boxes, touching, and playing with everything. Of course, Grandma and Papa have more breakable as well as older (heirloom) decorations than we have so I am trying to get the kids to stick to the ones that are ok to touch. I am wondering if they’ll get bored of the decorations before my nerves are too frayed. Unfortunately, I am betting they will not. On the bright side, they are certainly enjoying the season.

Sunday Best

Last year, I bought this dress for Lexi. She loves it and has been asking to wear it at least once a month. It seems a little too fancy for most things, but I decided to let her wear it to church today since it is the holiday season. She was thrilled. She even managed to put the tights on all by herself. I am still wondering how she accomplished it perfectly.

Zoo in November

Even though it is Saturday, Grandma Margie and Aunt Paige both had to work. Grandma is making up for their trip to Egypt and it is a normal working day for Paige. We decided to make the best of it and go to the zoo, especially since Jordan is going to need a pass soon (after he turns three). Lexi loves animals. The petting zoo is her favorite part.

Lexi's Christmas Cards

This year, Lexi wanted to make a few Christmas cards to send out. I made a short list including a her dad, grand-dad, great grandmothers, first cousins, and a few friends. Jordan helped her glue a few of the cards. She wrote names in all of the cards and signed it with a heart and her name.

Thanksgiving 2010

We had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday. In fact, the kids are still talking about it. Mainly, they enjoyed Grandma's guest, Adrian. He works with her. Lexi and Jordan completely adore him and got to spend more time with him yesterday than they ever have before.

Lexi has also pointed out several times that she used her best manners during dinner. She even tells us that she remembered to say "please and no thank you." There is always somethings that kids don't want to eat and we let her get away with it yesterday. She does pretty well, but was not interested in the green beans or stuffing. Of course, the apple cranberry pie with vanilla ice cream was her favorite part of the meal.

Back From Egypt

Grandma and Aunt Paige came back from Egypt last night. The kids were looking forward to this all day. Actually, they've been excited for them to return since they left. We made lasagna and pulled it out of the oven just as they were driving up. The kids loved hearing their stories and asked lots of questions. Grandma & Paige brought stuffed camels for Lexi and Jordan. Lexi named hers Pinky.

Thanksgiving Craft

Yesterday, I pulled out a Thanksgiving craft that I had bought for the kids to do. They had so much fun gluing the pieces together. Lexi loved drawing the faces onto her stick people.

Lexi Is Learning How To Read

A good friend in Texas, Miss Tiffy, taught her two oldest kids to read very well before they started kindergarten. She told me about this book and warned me that it requires a lot of patience and can be grueling at times, but that the rewards were worth it.

I have been working on it with Lexi this year. Yesterday, she completed her 55th lesson out of 100. I made a little video so everyone can see her progress. Here she is reading part of the story that she'll be reading for the lesson today:

Sunday at the Zoo

We went to the zoo today. As you can see in the pictures, we had fun even though Jordan and I weren't feeling well (coughs & sore throats).
