Pumpkin Carving

At our Halloween Gathering last night, Uncle Stephen (who is actually the uncle to Avery, Camden, Savannah & McKenna) started carving this pumpkin.  He cut a hole and pulled out all of the yucky guts.  Then, he did the eyes.  The party was wrapping up, so that is how he left it.  He said we could finish it ourselves the next day.  When the Lexi & Jordan got home from school, we went in the backyard and cut out the nose and then the mouth.  I free-handed it.  I must admit this is the perfect way to carve a pumpkin.  It is nice when someone does all of the yucky work & clean-up.

Pumpkin Carving 2010

We decided to carve pumpkins last night mainly because Paige had the day off. She invited her friend, Ashley, over to help. We got started before she arrived. Lexi still has no interest in helping with the pumpkin goo. I decided to do an easy design with the kids, so we picked the bat. Paige picked the pirate ship, which is much more difficult. We all had fun.

Oma's Pumpkin Patch

Several months ago, I went on to Meetup.com and found a group called Single Parents. The idea is to announce get-togethers. So far, everything has been about the parents getting together for a night out. I haven't been interested. A week ago, they announced a single parent/kids outing at Oma's Pumpkin Patch, so I RSVPd Yes. Grandma Margie thought is sounded fun and came along too. The group didn't really stick together, but we met another mom with a 3.5 year old boy that we hung out with. She moved here about a week ago. We had fun getting to know them and enjoying the activities.

Pumpkin Carving

We have finally been able to see a little bit of Dad these last two days, so we took advantage of it last night and did our pumpkin carving. Dad & Lexi worked on the pumpkin, while Jordan explored the yard, and I took pictures and watched Jordan.
