Playoff Game

Lexi's playoff game was tonight at the same time as Jordan's, but in different schools. Fortunately, she played against my best friend's daughter, Savannah. I watched the first half of Lexi's game. When I left at half time, the Mustangs were up 4 to 2. When I came back, I found out Lexi's team lost 6 to 4. I was actually very surprised. Lexi's team should have won. They were ranked higher, taller and mostly older. They usually score more baskets too. Oh well. I am glad it went to a team that I am happy for. Lexi's team is now done with their season.

YW Cell Free Zone

For the past few years, the YW leaders at church offer treats to girls to turn in their cell phones. That way, they can concentrate on the message rather than be distracted by their phones. It was a teenage girl, Emily Field, that came up with the idea. She has since graduated from high school and gone on with her life. In fact, she just returned from an 18 month mission to Siberia. They look this picture in honor of her contribution and to welcome her home.  

Big Win 21 to 19

The Mustangs had their first official win this season. This is actually the second time they beat this team, but the first time was just a practice game.

Game Against the Top Ranked Team

I knew this was going to be a tough Saturday since both Lexi's team and Jordan's team were versing the top ranked teams in their leagues. Both teams were undefeated and our teams are struggling. I must admit that I was pleased how well this game went. I thought the point spread would be farther. The Mustangs stepped up their defense and stayed in the game.

Going Away Party

Sami, one of Lexi's church friends, had a going away party this evening. Her father is being transferred to Billings, Montana. Lexi has know her since Kindergarten even though they go to different schools. When I picked her up, I snapped a few pictures of the church friends.

We said our goodbyes, but I told them we will probably see them this summer. Some of our summer plans include visiting my brother, Chris/Paul, in Billings. It has been a while since we have seen him and he has had such a rough year. He got divorced a year ago (last January). During the summer, Child Services took the kids away from his ex-wife for neglect after the baby's skull was cracked without explanation. They immediately gave all four kids to him. He is really great with them, but the court cases are dragging on with psychological evaluations and monitoring for his ex. I think the judge is trying to wrap up all loose ends so that appeals on her end will be unlikely. My family doesn't have anything against her, but from the beginning we felt like she wasn't stable enough to have custody of them. Four kids between the ages of 18 months and 4 years old would be tough for anyone. 

Basketball Game - Lost 17 to 7

Watching the basketball games was kind of tricky for me today. Their games were back to back, but 20 minutes across town. I watched the first half of Lexi's game and then rushed out to take Jordan to his game. Her team made the first basket. It was a free-throw, so the score was 1 to 0 for a little while. When I headed out the score was pretty close. I know the Mustangs had 5, but I can't remember what the Owls had - maybe 7. I walked in with only a few minutes left. The score was 17 (Owls) and 5 (Mustangs). Then one of Lexi's teammates sunk a basket (I caught the picture above) with 3.6 seconds on the clock to bring the score up to 17 to 7.  

Tumbling Trial Class

Lexi is interested in trying out for cheerleading in May. She asked me if she could try a cheerleading class. We went to Westwood gymnastics and they said she could do 2 free trials - tumbling class and cheerleading class. She tried the tumbling class today. I am sure she was the oldest one. They worked on forward rolls, hand stands, cartwheels, and round-offs.
