Primary Program 2010

This morning was the primary program (a.k.a. kids' program) at church. They had the sunbeam class (four year olds) speak last. Lexi got up and did a great job. See her explain what she is going to say in the video below. After their talks, the leaders had the sunbeams line up against the front of the stage to sing. There were two microphones set up and they placed her directly in front of one of them. She leaned over and sung her heart out. Then, the whole congregation sang I am a Child of God. She continued to belt it out into the microphone, so she could be heard above everyone else.

I literally laughed so hard I cried. My mom & sister were laughing too. Good thing everyone was singing because we were almost rolling in the aisle. I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time. Someone's kid always has to entertain at these things and today it was mine. Everyone commented about it and several people said they enjoyed seeing us laugh like that.

Party at Grandma's Work

Yesterday, we went to Grandma's work for a party. She works at a huge retirement home. We made cupcakes and got dressed up. As part of the party, we joined a big parade that went through all of the dining rooms so the residents could see our costumes. Lexi loves being there because she gets so much attention. She has gone to work with Grandma a few times and the staff and residents just love it. She feels so mature there. Grandma asked if I wanted her to stay for the rest of the day, so she did.

Afternoon at PB

I had a dentist appointment this morning, so the kids got to spend time with Aunt Paige. It was such a beautiful day. When I got back, I decided that we should all go down to Pacific Beach. Besides, I hadn't had lunch and wanted ice cream. I settled for frozen yogurt. We walked around and later got root beers.

Halloween Church Party

Monday night was the church Halloween Party. I got the kids dressed up. Lexi was Alice in Wonderland and Jordan was the Mad Hatter. They were a huge hit. We went to the party with Grandma Margie. The church served pizza and salad for dinner. After the food, the party got started with a costume parade for the kids. While they were walking around, the judges were watching to see who would win the different categories for the costume contest. Lexi and Jordan were selected for the most original. We also got to go around to the different classrooms to do activities and crafts. Finally, we went outside to do trunk-or-treating. They were giving BIG candy bars. The kids enjoyed the party.

Spooktacular 2010 #3 & 4

We went to Sea World for the Halloween Spooktacular both days this weekend, but only for a few hours each. We mainly wanted to catch the Halloween sea lion show. They have skits of the top 5 scary entertainment moments: #5 is Jaws, #4 is Star Wars, #3 is Scooby Doo, #2 is Scream, & #1 is Thriller. Of course, the kids have to get a little trick-or-treating while we are there too. There are two pictures of Lexi below with the sea lion stage in the background. There is also one of the kids with one of the performers, Biff.

Mummy Hot Dogs

We made mummy hot dogs for dinner tonight. Lexi has a talent for wrapping them. She was disappointed when she saw that mine were neater, but I explained that a real mummy is bumpy and messy. She asked if we could make a video. I said sure and didn't know that she wanted to do an instructional one:

Since we've gone that far, I should add that we cut up Pillsbury crescent rolls for the wrapping. I didn't take an after picture, but they turned out well and the kids gobbled them up.

Pumpkin Carving 2010

We decided to carve pumpkins last night mainly because Paige had the day off. She invited her friend, Ashley, over to help. We got started before she arrived. Lexi still has no interest in helping with the pumpkin goo. I decided to do an easy design with the kids, so we picked the bat. Paige picked the pirate ship, which is much more difficult. We all had fun.

Birch Aquarium

Sunday afternoon, we went to the Birch Aquarium with Grandma Margie and Aunt Paige. It is quite close to our house and good for a little outing.
