Pirate Camp Day 2

Today's Pirate Camp was all about teaching the little buccaneers to be better swimmers. Of course, we had lots of fun too. The moms are just happy that the kids get exhausted from running up the stairs to ride the slides over & over again.

Arrr Matey

Ever since last year Lexi went to Pirate Camp last summer, she and Jordan have been talking about it and wanting to do it again. I was actually very disappointed for the price, so I told them that we would run our own in Texas and invite friends. I figured that it was the best way to make sure it was fun and that paying for all the crafts & pirate stuff for all the kids would be cheaper than the one she went to.

We invited a few friends & started our week long summer camp today. As you can see, we had eye patches, swords, hats, and tattoos. We even had tuna sandwiches for lunch. We also learned about two of the most famous pirate islands in the Caribbean, which I happened to have been to both – Nassau, Bahamas and Haiti/Dominican Republic. We talked about Blackbeard and taught them a fun song (see video below). Everyone enjoyed it and we’re all looking forward to doing Pirate Camp all week.

Ready for Church

Our church is from 1 to 4 pm on Sundays. It ends up taking over the whole day, but is also gives plenty of time to get ready. The kids have already made friends. Lexi is in the CTR4 class (4 year olds that are turning 5), which consists of lots of little girls. I don't think there is even one boy in the class. Lexi really enjoys them and is very excited that at least one of the girls will be in her elementary school.

Saturday at the Water Park

We went to the water park today. We did all of our normal things there, but I realized that I haven't taken a video of Lexi jumping of the diving board. It was a good day for it. When she goes off of the diving board and the slides, she swims to the side with her eyes closed. She just hates that they have a rule against using goggles on those.

Dinner at Panera Bread

This evening, our Friday night consisted of getting Jordan's haircut, eating at Panera Bread and window shopping at La Centerra. It is an outdoor shopping area.

Aunt Melissa's Birthday

Last night, we had the special honor of celebrating Aunt Melissa's birthday with her and her family. Not only is she the favorite aunt of our friends, but she was also one of my best friends in high school. It is a double treat.

The party had a Hawaiian theme. We ate Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner (super yummy). We did crafts and played games in the backyard. Melissa got to open her presents with all of the kids cheering her on. The night was topped off with a delicious cake and lots of different kinds of ice cream. What a party!

Friend's Swim Meet

Tonight, we went to watch Camden & Avery in their swim meet. We wanted to cheer them on and see if it is something Lexi would like to do next year. She is definitely interested. Of course, the swim meet might be a little more fun when you are just playing with friends. Lexi and Jordan really enjoyed it.

Samuel's 4th Birthday

Yesterday, we went to Samuel's 4th birthday party. I've been friends with Samuel's mom, Amy, since high school. It is always a treat to see our kids playing together. What made it even better was another one of our good friends came and brought his family - Erik. We had a great time. There was a bouncy house, a piñata, and as usual another amazing cake made and decorated by Amy.

Loving J

Today, I went into Jordan's bedroom and found this card on his bed. Lexi snuck it in there to show him how much she loves him. It was so very sweet that I just had to take a picture. They definitely have great moments of kindness and love (to go along with their bickering).

Waterpark & Playdate

The kids had an amazing day. It started off with a trip to the waterpark with our friends and ended with the friends coming back to our house for lunch, fun and dinner. They played so well together. It was actually better than having Lexi and Jordan here by themselves. They didn't fight or argue. At the waterpark, Lexi, Camden and Avery kept going down the slides over & over again. They also jumped off the diving boards. They are becoming great swimmers. We'll have to do this more often.
