2nd Grade Celebration of Learning

Lexi's end of the year celebration was this afternoon.  The kids received awards, which were chosen by the other kids in the class.  Lexi got one for having a bubbly personality and being an amazing writer.  She enjoyed a lot of the girls in her class this year.  She is really hoping some of them are in her 3rd grade class.

Poem for School

Today, Lexi had to pass off a poem she memorized for school.  We picked a pretty cute one, so I took a video to share.

Memorial Day at School

My poor kids had to do something today that I've never done - Go to school on Memorial Day.  They had a make-up day for one of the ice days.  I don't know why Memorial Day was chosen instead of Good Friday.  I guess most of us could claim it as a religious holiday.  The strangest part about all of this was that at the end of the day, a HUGE storm rolled in.  I drove to pick them up and got stuck in the car pool line.  The flooding rain, lighting and tornado warnings made this weather much worse and more dangerous that the silly ice days we had.  The school kept the kids in the building for an extra 45 minutes.

Good Game

This was the second to the last game and it went very well.  Lexi scored 2 goals and her team was on fire.  I liked the game because there was a mom from the other team that I just clicked with.  She had 6 kids including a new baby that was a few weeks old.  Her husband was the coach of the other team.  She home-schooled her kids and just seemed really on top of life.

Sporty Clothes

Since Lexi started soccer, she has become more interested in sporty clothes.  I got her this outfit because it has the sports element along with a little sparkle.  I gave her this high french braid.  It seems a little more popular lately since Frozen came out.  Whenever she has her hair like this, little girls tell her she looks like Elsa.  She says it is annoying, but I think part of her likes it.

Long Hair

Lexi's hair hasn't been cut in a long time.  I noticed that it is quite a bit longer.  I brushed out her hair this evening after her bath.  It is about an inch past her bum.  I've talked to her about cutting quite a bit off several times, but she doesn't even want to entertain the thought.

Walking to School

School is coming to an end and I am starting to get a little sad that the kids are getting older.  I took a picture of our normal walk to school.  I know we'll be doing it again soon in August, but the kids will seem so much older.

Sunday

Lexi wore her white dress to church today.  I decided to give her a fishbone braid.

During church, I told Lexi that when I was young I would draw pictures of the people around me.  She drew several different pictures including one of me.

Mother's Day 2014

Lexi and Jordan brought me breakfast in bed.  Lexi cut an apple and Jordan poured a glass of milk.  There was raspberries around the bowl.  They also excitedly brought me cards and presents. Lexi bought a mug from the school store.  She said that it is because I like peppermint tea, which is very thoughtful.

Card made at home:

My friend, Annette, sent me the toe decals.  She has a website (http://www.toe2toedesign.com).

Second Grade Field Day

I went to the school this afternoon to watch Lexi participate in field day.  She was able to complete all of the tasks, which helped her class get 3rd place.  The toughest task for her was making a basket.  They gave the kids 3 chances to make 2 baskets.  If they completed the task, their cards were stamped.  If not, they had to go to the back of the line and try again.  We spent quite a bit of time in that line, but she finally made it.
