Animal Shelter

Lexi often begs me, or anyone who will listen, to take her to an animal shelter. She really likes the one near Grandma Margie's house. She told Aunt Paige all about it and got her onboard. We stopped there this afternoon so they could all love on the animals.

Not Lucy

This weekend, we are dog sitting, but it is not our favorite dog - Lucy. This one is named Ginny and sometimes at night she likes to bite the person she is sleeping with. Not a cute little nip either. Her owners had to go out of town for a funeral and heard that Lexi likes to dog sit for free. I guess we're the popular ones now. The girls still enjoyed having her.

CAPS

This afternoon, Lexi had a birthday party to go to for one of her friends. We took another friend, Tina, with us. The party was at CAPS, which stands for Citizens for Animal Protection. Of course, this is exactly the kind of party that Lexi LOVES. She wanted to take all of the animals home with her. Yippee for me - not really.

Puppy Fun

Some wonderful friends from church have a puppy named Lucy. The mom & kids are out of town this week, so they asked us to check up on her during the day. That way she'll get a potty break in the middle of the day. The dad comes home for the evening, so it is just a little visit. As you can see, Lexi and Jordan loved it.

Walked to the Cross

Today, we walked up to the cross.  It was a great way to give Grandma a rest, wear out Lexi & Jordan, and give Travis some exercise.  I grabbed my mom's camera and took pictures.

Last Leg of RV Trip

Today was the last day of our little family reunion/Utah trip.  Even though it takes longer to drive the RV, I am glad that we got to travel and stay in it.  The kids were strapped in, but there is more of a sense of freedom. It is nice having a portable potty, so they could jump up and go without having to pull over.  It was also great being able to get fruit out of the fridge for snacks.  Probably the best part was "camping" at the reunion.  The people who stayed in tents suffered from a few rain storms.  Maybe Lexi would say that the best part was bringing Travis on vacation.

Trip to Cali

Today, we hopped on a plane to head to California for the month.  Our ride didn't show up this morning, so I drove us to the airport.  We parked in one of the park & ride lots nearby.  That was the worst part of the day.  Thankfully, everything else went well.

The kids were good on the airplane and were very excited to see Grandma.  She even shed a tear when she saw us in the distance.  She took us out for breakfast/brunch at one of our favorite spots, The Mission.  We headed home and took Travis to the park.  The kids loved playing with him.  That night, they got to try out Papa & Grandma's new futuristic shower/hot tub/steam room.  They are still remodeling their bathroom, but they are almost done installing this.

News about Aunt Paige

Papa Malcolm is in town this week.  He took us out to dinner last night at Cici's Pizza.  We had a good time.  He told us that Aunt Paige and Vicky are planning on getting an apartment together.  Lexi was thinking about it today again and is very upset by it.  She doesn't understand why Paige would move out of her mom's house.  I've tried to explain in a nice way that Paige is 25 and feels like it is time.  Lexi just doesn't think that is right, especially since she is leaving her cat behind.  Lexi has told me that she plans to stay with me forever.  I just smile.  Sometimes, she tells me she'll be my neighbor because she wants lots of pets and I don't.  She was quite upset for about 20 minutes today.

Later, she decided to set up a little dinner table in her room.  She wrote a note asking if she could eat in there and sent Jordan to give it to me.  I said it would be fine as long as Jordan could join her.  They had corn on the cob downstairs and then ate their sweet potatoes there.

Walking the Dog

Today, we dropped Papa and Grandma Margie off at the airport. They are on their way to Hawaii for a week of celebrating their 10th anniversary, which is actually in May. While they are gone, we are taking turns with Paige for walking and feeding the dog, Travis. This afternoon, we walked down to the park in our neighborhood. I decided to take the camera along.
