The Young Women (YM) sang "I am a Child of God" in church today. They harmonized and everything. Afterward, their leaders took these pictures.

5th Grade Choir Concert
Lexi has been in the 5th Grade Choir this year, which means early morning practices twice a week. They have had quite a few field trips and have learned a lot. The choir directors at her school seem to be much more serious and professional than most elementary school music teachers. It has been a fabulous experience.

Christmas Eve 2015
The holidays are starting off quite fun with family this year. My mom & step-dad came to town before Halloween. They are staying in an RV park about 20 minutes away. We have gone up to see my step-sister & her family several times. My sister came today. She'll be here from Dec 24th until today (Jan 1st). We haven't been around family during the holidays for the last 4 years. It is especially nice to have my mom around to do a lot of the cooking.
This evening (Christmas Eve), we had a special dinner and talent show. Here our Santa place settings:
Lexi and Paige were next. They sung a song that Lexi wrote:
Jordan was next with the 12 days of Christmas. This is a song he LOVES to sing, especially when he is taking a bath:
My mom recited a clever poem about a boy that didn't believe in Santa.
My step-father wrapped it up with a song that Lexi & Paige helped a little with:
Finally, we opened our one present on Christmas Eve to find that it is always what we get the night before Christmas - our pjs.

Catholic/LDS Christmas Choir
Lexi has been practicing for the last few months for the Catholic/LDS Christmas Choir Concert. She had 2 friends from church that also participated: Eliza & Ahnyka. Ahnyka's mom is one of the directors for the adult choir. She is an amazing musician. Papa Malcolm is in the adult choir and has been practicing too.
Here is the grand finale for the adults: https://www.facebook.com/dionni.stone?fref=ts

Big Christmas Concert
This evening, Lexi & Jordan had their big Christmas Choir Concert. It was
at an outdoor shopping center near our house. Lexi kept saying she was nervous because she had a solo. She seemed fine though and pulled it off.
The video isn't clear, but Lexi is the one singing "big read cherry nose" every time.

Choir Performance at Assisted Living Facility
This morning, the children's choir had a performance at an assisted living facility. It has been quite a cold day, but the perfect time of year to get out and spread cheer.

Song from Phineas and Ferb

Yesterday, Lexi had a song from Disney's Phineas & Ferb stuck in her head. She was singing and dancing all over the house. Of course, she didn't ham it up quite as much once I turned the camera on, but you'll get the main idea...
By the way, we're back in San Diego. We got here on Saturday.

Excited about Christmas

Lexi is already very excited about Christmas and everything that comes with it. She can't stop talking about baby Jesus. She also talks about Santa and tells everyone he is her friend. She even LOVES Christmas songs. I am sure I'll be recording a few of her solos for this blog in the next few weeks.

Happy Birthday Grandma Margie!
Last Sunday, Aunt Paige had her 21st birthday. I called her so that Lexi could wish her a happy birthday. Lexi was so disappointed the whole day that she could not eat a piece of her cake.
Today is Grandma Margie's birthday and Lexi is once again disappointed. She thinks Grandma Margie should have a strawberry and chocolate cake. She also wants to go to her party despite the fact that she isn't having one. She sang to her the whole day, so I got out the camera:

Memorizing Songs & Nursery Rhymes

When you have a child like Lexi, it is difficult to keep their mind stimulated. She knows a bunch of songs and we have started working on nursery rhymes. Actually, I recently bought some nursery rhyme books so that Steve can read them to her when he puts her to bed. She now recognizes all of them and can fill in spots of a few. She even recites a couple, but not perfectly.

Just Because

I hate to admit this, but I haven't posted any videos lately because I lost/misplaced the memory card for my camera. I have been stuck using the little 16 mb one that came with the camera. Videos fill it up too quickly, so I didn't take any. Since Lexi's birthday is coming up, I realized that I could no longer just wait until it shows up. I had to buy a new one. Fortunately, I discovered that the prices have really come down and I got a 1 GB for about $20. There will be lots of videos now.
I am posting some of the photos & a video from this afternoon. We had fun messing around with the camera. I took lots of video clips of her singing. Here is Ring Around the Rosies & the ABCs:
