We toured the Battleship Texas (https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/battleship-texas) today. It was commissioned in 1914 and at that time it was the toughest weapon in the world. It was quite interesting.

San Jacinto Monument
We toured the San Jacinto Monument (https://www.sanjacinto-museum.org/Monument/) today. Lexi will get extra credit if she writes about this for Social Studies. Jordan used the visit for the citizenship in the nation merit badge.

Made Volleyball
I took a picture of Lexi with her two backpacks today - the pink one is for her school work and the black one is for cheerleading. She will get a third one today for volleyball. Yes, she made the team. About 80 girls tried out for 32 spots (three teams - A, B & C). Lexi passed through 4 days of tryouts and cuts, but on the last one she was sure she wouldn't make it. It was a nice surprise and she is thrilled to be on the C team. Most of the A team and lots of the C team play club volleyball, which is several hours every evening and very expensive. Even without that, to be selected in a school that is this huge (1,800 kids) is an honor.
Their first practice was yesterday. Today, they had their first scrimmage. They played against SLJH and TJH. Scores weren't kept or anything, but it was interesting to see all the girls on the various teams. The other schools have friends and former teammates.

First Day of 7th
It is the first day of 7th grade. She was pretty excited to be with friends and start cheerleading for real.
