Brace Face Club

Look who got braces today. The dentist said she was ready, so I took her to Dr Hanis. We know him from church. He actually wins lots of award for being the best orthodontist in town. Lexi will be in braces for the next 15 month.

Lexi lost another molar.

Goodbye to Another Bottom Tooth

Lexi lost another tooth from the bottom.  The real news would be if the top one came in.  We've been waiting for it to come in since it fell out in November.  Fortunately, we can see the new one, but it just hasn't emerged through the gums quite yet.

Tooth Fairy Failure

Last night, the Tooth Fairy failed to do her duty.  Lexi was crushed.  I had to convince her to be patient with the Tooth Fairy and that this wasn't the first time it has ever happened to a child.  In fact, I am SURE it happened to me and several of my siblings a few times.  The Tooth Fairy has quite a lot going on this time of year.  Besides preparing for Christmas, it is hockey season up north.  She must be busy picking up all of those huge adult hockey teeth.

Lexi was given a little treasure chest for her tooth at school today.  This evening, Lexi decided to leave a note for the Tooth Fairy.  She wanted to make sure that she showed up and that she left the chest for next time.  I have a feeling that the Tooth Fairy felt bad about last night and scheduled the visit in her phone so she would be sure to make it later on tonight.

Goodbye to Another Tooth

Lexi lost another tooth today. It has been pretty wiggly for a while now.  We thought she might loose it over the weekend when she was with her dad & Sarah.  She decided that she wouldn't touch it and would be extra careful.  Today after school, it was practically falling out of her mouth.  When she got ready for bed, she agreed to let me pull it.  It took minimal effort.

Another Missing Tooth

This evening, Lexi showed me that her other baby front tooth had become REALLY loose.  It was barely hanging on.  I told her I'd pull it before bedtime.  Of course, it took minimal effort.  Despite the bleeding, it didn't hurt at all. She is just excited to get another dollar from the tooth fairy.  Jordan and I are laughing that she suddenly has a lisp.  

Missing Teeth Buddies

A grand event has happened and must be documented.  Lexi, Camden & Kara are all missing their top left tooth.  Fortunately, Camden & Kara's grandparents made a big effort to get them all together today.  Camden's tooth barely made it out in time, with a little help from his dad.  Kara's top right tooth is about to fall out & this occasion would not be the same.  It is amazing that this is all happening together.  Camden & Kara are both 7 1/2 years old, which is a year older than Lexi.  It is extra special to be sharing it with close friends.  Of course, we had to get a picture of the other kids too.

Movie Crew

This is the last week of the dollar matinees for kids.  I called Miss Emily & Miss Tiffany to see if they'd like to meet us.  We saw Yogi Bear.  The best part was that we were a row of blondes.  I'm sure that looks a little funny.  When it was over, we wanted to get a picture of Kara and Lexi since they are both missing the same top tooth.  I pulled out the camera & took lots of pictures.  

What Happens in Vegas

Last night, we stopped at my friend Annette's house.  We stopped there on the way up to the reunion too, which was nice because we don't get to see her & her wonderful family nearly enough.  She lives near the end of a cul-de-sac.  There are no houses around the circle, so it was a perfect stopping spot for the RV.  There are also lots of trails for walking Travis and letting the kids run around.      

This evening, we made it to Vegas.  We decided to stay in the RV park at Circus Circus.  We went into Circus Circus to have dinner.  Lexi ordered spaghetti and meatballs.  Suddenly, she realized that her tooth had fallen out.  Fortunately, she didn't swallow it.  I told her that Vegas has a strict rule - What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas.  She put her tooth in my purse & we hoped to smuggle it out.  I told her that I had a feeling that the tooth fairy pays less for teeth in Vegas.  She is better holding out for a town that has a better economy.  She decided to take that gamble and bet on San Diego.   

Grandma Time

My mom has been teasing Lexi about pulling out her loose tooth.  Yesterday, Lexi asked her several times if she would do it.  That evening, Grandma tied some floss on the tooth.  Lexi seemed a little, so Grandma painted her toenails and fingernails first.  When she was done, she gave the floss a yank.  It came right off and left the tooth in its place.  I guess it isn't quite ready and neither was Lexi.  Her eyes got really big and she looked like she was going to cry.  I told her the tooth didn't come out and she was relieved.  

Lost Tooth #2

This evening, when Lexi was in the bathroom ready to brush her teeth, she asked me to see how wiggly her tooth was. Apparently, it was so wiggly that it fell out. At least, this way, it didn't get swallowed or lost.

First Missing Tooth

Lexi's first tooth fell out this afternoon. When I picked her up from school, she showed me that she could wiggle it with her tongue. Once we got home, like she often does, she pulled out her left-over snacks. She was munching on carrots when I happened to look over at her and see that her tooth was missing. I had her spit out what was in her mouth, but it was too late. The tooth was gone. I guess she swallowed it.

She cried a little at first because she was surprised and because she wanted money from the tooth fairy. I told her that she might want to write a nice note for the tooth fairy. I am guessing that the tooth fairy would have sympathy for her and still give her a little money.

Loose Tooth

Over a week ago (Sept 18th), Lexi discovered that she had a loose tooth. Loose as in it is not solidly grounded any more, but not really moving all over the place either. She cried and cried and cried because she doesn’t want it to fall out. She asked me a million questions like will it hurt, when will it fall out, and will it bleed. I calmly answered her questions and let her know that it happens to EVERYONE. I certainly have not made a big deal out of it.

A week has gone by and it is still barely loose, but it is crooked. Two girls in her class lost teeth this week and she did not think it was cool. She doesn’t like when it gets bumped or she feels it move. Since she doesn’t bother it at all, it might be a while before the lower tooth pushes it out. Unlike my mom, I have NO intention of pulling it.

I've been a slacker when it comes to blogging. There are so many things about Lexi that I have failed to report, like her 4 molars, jealousy streak, terrible 2 eating habits, and many other things that my mind is blanking out on. I guess you’ll just have to settle for photos today.

10 Months Old

Life is keeping me too busy lately. I haven't had time to post Lexi's latest milestones. Of course, not much comes to mind when I sit down to type. I guess I'll just have to go with the easy ones. She now has 7 teeth - 4 on top & 2 on the bottom. She is also standing like a pro. She can stand for several minutes and even bend over to pick things up without falling. She is taking steps, but only when holding on to something. Believe me, walking is not a milestone I am looking forward to. It is hard enough to keep up with her now. As you can see in the photos, she is still very fascinated by electronic gadgets like cell phones and remote controls. I doubt that will ever change.

New Tooth on South Beach

Lexi marked her first morning on South Beach (Sunday) with another new tooth. The top left tooth decided to make a grand entrance. Lexi didn't sleep well our first night there and I wasn't sure if it was because the a/c vent was blowing right on her pack-n'-play or because she was in an unfamiliar place, or what. The first time she woke up screaming, I wrapped her in the blanket and put her back down. The second time, I carried her over to our bed. She was there about 4 hours. She slept fairly well but I didn't despite the very quiet neighborhood. In the morning, I fed her and discovered the new tooth.

Moving was an ordeal (as all moves are), but Lexi faired well. Saturday, I took her over to a friend's house (Sonja) where she was provided undivided attention all day long. She loved every minute of it and got some of the best naps ever. It was much better than packing and moving things to the new place.

Sunday she got to participate in the moving fun. I dragged her to the house and she tried to play with everything while I was trying to pack. Her dad and Uncle Jeff took things to storage and then we all loaded up and went back to SOBE. That evening, Jeff headed back to PSL and we went for a walk. Lexi fell asleep on the way home and had a great night.

Snot Nose, Skinned Knees, Biting & Coughing

Little Lexi is having a rough time dealing with a lot of different things. Last week, she started off with a little daycare bug and at the end of the week caught whatever her dad had. Saturday night, she sounded like she was trying to cough up a lung. At one point, she was coughing so hard that she threw up all over her dad. On Sunday, she was fussy and miserable, so we took her to Urgent Care. Her chest congestion was so bad that they wanted to do an x-ray to make sure it wasn't pneumonia. It took both of us to hold her down for the x-rays, while she screamed like a banshee. We left with three prescriptions for her. She hates how they taste. Every six hours, I have to force them in her mouth.

On top of that, she is still as close to crawling as a baby can be (daycare jumped the gun). I just wish we had better floors for her to do it on. We have Berber carpet in the bedrooms, which is causing rug burns and hard tile everywhere else. She either has sore little knees or hard crashes.

In addition, I think she is teething again. She started biting everything. Yesterday, she even bit my shoulder (ouch).

She needs a break.
