Lunch

We are on the east side of Houston today. We went to Jimmy Changas for lunch. Since we don't go to sit down restaurants very often (without others), I took a few pictures. the food was delicious. 

Birthday Lunch

This birthday girl turned 11 today, so I brought lunch to school to celebrate and eat with her. Yum!!!

Lunch with Grandma

My mom and I picked up lunch from Jersey Mike's and went to the school to eat with Lexi.  We all had sandwiches.  Lexi loves sitting at the visitor table and making sure that her classmates see her. It is nice to have kids at the age when they are very proud to be seen with you. She makes us laugh.

Lunch with the Star of the Week

Star of the Week brings with it a task each day.  The week started with posters, another day was kind of show & tell, and another day Lexi had to bring in a book to read to the class.  Today, she needed a guest to have lunch with her.  I picked-up food from Subway and had the honor of being her lunch date.  

Outside of the cafeteria there is a board with various photos pinned.  I saw that Lexi was featured in a few pictures.  I remembered that she & Jordan had told me all about these famous football players that came to their school one day.  They were convinced that one of the football players was JJ Watt from the Houston Texans.  Neither of these guys look like him though.  He is definitely white.  

Anyway, the school had an assembly and Lexi was called on stage to help demonstrate.  She is the blonde girl wearing pink pants.  I am not sure what the point of the assembly was, probably anti-bullying or something.  The kids came away with their idea of what it was about - getting your grandma to pray for the Dallas Cowboys because they are awful this year.  I guess that was a joke, but my kids didn't catch the humor in it.  They said we needed to call Grandma Margie right away.  I found it amusing that it is still ok to talk about prayers in school in Texas as long as sports are involved.  

Lunch with Lexi

I went to Lexi's school today to have lunch with her.  Parents can go any time and eat with their kids.  We just have to check in at the office and go straight to the lunch room.  They have special visitors' tables where kids eat with their parents.  This happened to be a rare day that very few parents were there.  We were on one end of the tables and there was a father & son clear on the other end.  It was fun to just sit and talk to Lexi.  I have been before, but never when we were sitting practically alone.  

School Prep

These pictures were taken this morning before we headed off for a day filled with school prep. Actually, just the morning was. Since we had to drop off her doctor forms/shot records and it is a rainy day, I decided that it was a good day to head to the mall for a little school clothes shopping. We had fun and found some good deals.

We got back in time for lunch and I made a peanut butter & jelly sandwich for her. I've been trying to get her interested in them all summer. She'll be taking lunches to school and they seem like the easiest choice. Unfortunately, she has always turned her nose up at them. I ended up coaxing, bribing, and forcing her to eat it, which means that if I send them to school with her they will NOT get eaten. What can I pack for school lunches that don't need to be kept cold?
