Skating Birthday

Lexi had her 12th birthday party at Mason Skate today. She was in charge of the entire thing. She called her dad and asked him to pay and he did. She created the invitation and sent it out to the friends she wanted to invite. She asked me to make a cookie cake to bring to the party. I think I like this streak of independence - at least when it comes to party planning.

Birthday Celebration

This year, I wasn't up for a huge birthday celebration. I told Lexi that we could just invite the neighborhood kids that show up on a regular basis and feed them cookie cake. They jumped on the trampoline for a while and then enjoyed the cookie cake. It wasn't about presents or anything else, just a little celebration right here - easy peasy.

This birthday girl turned 11 today, so I brought lunch to school to celebrate and eat with her. Yum!!!

This birthday girl got up early and pulled a cupcake out of the refrigerator. I got a nice plate of them from some sweet teen girls at church. Lexi is claiming one for herself today. We gave her presents this morning. She got 2 pairs of Converse shoes, which she has been obsessing over and begging to get for MONTHS. Papa & Grandma bought her the pink leopard print ones.

Birthday Dinner

Papa Malcolm took us out for a birthday dinner. We went to Buca de Beppo in north Houston and met up with his daughter (Katy), son-in-law (Jason), and grandson (Jackson). Of course, the food was delicious, but Lexi and I just LOVE Italian food. This was our last night with Grandma and Papa. They are packing up and heading to San Diego in the morning. 

Ninth Birthday Party

Lexi's 9th birthday party was tonight. She invited her closest friends over for the Book of Life themed event. The picture above has Lexi's best friends her age. This was the first time they met each other. Kacy (left) is the one she has known the longest because I was friends with her dad in high school. Matilda (blonde) is our neighbor and goes to school with Lexi. Heather (Nike shirt) is her friend from church. There were also family friends at the party.

To start, the kids colored pictures from the Book of Life movie.
