Soccer

It was a great game today.  The coach for the other team was so positive and encouraging to all the kids.  He even tied shoes for kids on our team.  Our coach is very nice too, but a little reserved.

The kids both happen to be wearing green today, so I took a picture.

Easter Sunday

The kids had a hard time finding their baskets this morning.  I think the Easter Bunny kicked it up a notch this year.  Lexi found her basket in the clothes dryer.

Coloring Eggs

We colored eggs this evening.  Each kid had 6 eggs.

Second Soccer Game

Lexi's second soccer game was today.  She scored 2 of the 4 goals for her team.  It was a great boost for her love of sports.

Zoo Field Trip

The second graders went to Houston today for their annual field trip.  It was at the zoo, which is a place Lexi loves.  She is a huge animal lover.  She had lots to talk about when she got back.

Go Hawks! - First Soccer Game

Lexi had her first soccer game today.  The team met at a local elementary school to decorate cars and go in a parade to the fields.  I brought window paint and wrote "Go Hawks!" on the back window.  Jordan asked me to write "Go Lexi" on his window.  Lexi used it to write "I love soccer" on her window.

Lexi was pretty nervous this morning. She didn't know what to expect.  I was a little worried that my kids didn't know the point of the game.  Lexi's team had only had 2 practices and the only thing I'd seen them do was drills.  The first practice was mainly about informing parents.  I didn't see much of her second practice because it was at the same time as Jordan's first practice.  Her practice field was just far enough away that I couldn't see it.  The game went well though.  There were a few kids who have played before and they seemed to be helping the flow of the game.  By half time, all of the kids seemed to get it.  I was pleasantly surprised by Lexi's abilities.  She was great at running and not afraid to go after the ball.  She is definitely an asset to the team.

Camden's Percy Jackson Bday Pary

We had quite a busy evening.  We left the school carnival early to make it to most of Camden's birthday party.  Besides being great friends, the theme was Percy Jackson.  How could we miss a party like that? It was all about camp half blood and the kids were competing demigods.  They had banners for decoration.  They made up fun games so the blue and red teams to compete for pearls.  They even had water-themed cupcakes.

School Carnival 2014

This evening, we went to the kids' school carnival.  We didn't stay long because one of our close friends had a birthday party that we had to get to.  We probably would have skipped this, but the kids wanted to go and I had already bought the tickets.  This was also the first year I bought the shirts for the event.  We went a little early and did quite a few quick things.

Eight is Great

Lexi's picture is on one of the boards at church.  All of the kids turning eight this year are featured.  They had a lady that is a photographer snap the pictures one day.

Chicken Spirit Night

The kids' school had spirit night at Chick-fil-A this evening.  A portion of the profits go to the school.  They have several different spirit nights throughout the year.  Most are from Papa Johns.  This one includes teacher contests every half hour.  We saw 2 contests.  The principal was part of a nugget eating contest.  Lexi's teacher was in a lemon squeezing contest.  I don't love these kinds of events (too crowded), but the kids do.

Astros Game

We have some good friends, Juan & Sonja, visiting from Florida this week.  Juan is a huge Astros fan, so they took us to a game tonight.  I found some Astros shirts on sale at Academy.  We had our gear on and were ready for a fun night.  Jordan and Lexi were very excited.  Sadly, they did not win, but the kids learned a lot about baseball and we all enjoyed it.

First Soccer Practice

Lexi had her first soccer practice this morning.  Her coach is named Coach Rama. They picked the name Hawks.
