Preparing for Primary Program

Lexi went to church today to practice for the big primary program they are putting on next week. She is excited about it. She even practices singing the songs.

Unfortunately, the rest of primary isn't going so well. Let's just say that one of the main problems is that it isn't properly supervised. In addition to that, although this is an affluent ward, quite a few of the kids come from homes where they are not taught to behave (at all). They don't seem to be intellectually stimulated at home either. Even though Lexi is in a class with all older kids, she is very advanced compared to them in too many ways. Oh well, she is looking forward to her small part in the performance next week. After that, we'll see how this goes.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

One of Paige's friends, who loves to dress up as much as she does, celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day with a party. Paige decided to make sugar cookies. I helped by drawing the skull and cross bones and cutting it out for a stencil. Lexi and Jordan were official tasters. While Paige was out partying, we celebrated by watching Disney's Peter Pan.

Newest Ballerina

Lexi's ballet classes started yesterday. She was so excited. Before the class started, she had all the little girls following her moves (like she was the teacher). When the teacher came, she marched right up to her and introduced herself. While some of the girls were trying to climb on the bars, she just loved watching herself in the huge mirrors. ...and in true Lexi fashion, she made lots of comments and talked a little too much.

Snicker Doodles

Yesterday, Lexi put on her chef outfit that she got for her birthday last year and easily convinced Grandma Margie that they needed to bake something. Grandma decided that Snicker Doodle cookies would be fun. Lexi helped put everything in the bowl and mix it. Then, she rolled the cookie dough in the cinnamon/sugar mix.

New Halloween Outfit

Lexi, like most people, is very excited about Halloween. This morning, we went shopping/errand running with Grandma Margie and she saw this Hello Kitty outfit. I didn't hear the conversation, but I don't think it took much effort on Lexi's part to convince my mom to buy it for her. My mom just happens to love festive things even more than I do, if you can believe that.

When we got home, Lexi held up her outfit for everyone to see. Then, she put it on and paraded around the house over and over again. That inspired me to make a matching bow, which is something I haven't done in a long time.

Playground Ribbon Cutting

Yesterday evening, we went to a ribbon cutting for the La Jolla Shores new playground. We were told that they spent $150,000 on the project. It is a fun playground that is decicated to marine life. Lexi and Jordan enjoyed the face painting and cupcake decorating stands at the ceremony.

When it came time to play on the playground they had fun, UNTIL Lexi slipped and fell. She was climbing up the spiral thing around the fireman's pole just out of my reach. All I could do was watch her go down. Fortunately, she landed in lots of soft sand. I picked her up while she fought back the tears. Then she ANNOUNCED, "this is NOT a good playground!" I had to laugh and decided it was time to go home. Despite that, we had a great time.

Old Towne

Yesterday, we headed out to a "multicultural playgroup." We have desperately been looking for ways for the kids to make friends. We were quite excited about this opporunity, but it was not meant to be. We arrived at the location and discovered that the group had been cancelled. There was not enough interest in it even though it was still listed on the internet. Sadly, we left.

On our way to look for a park to play in, we found ourselves in Old Towne. I haven't been there in 3 years, but remembered that it was neat. We parked and enjoyed spending time there.

Grandma's Birthday BBQ

For the Labor Day weekend, my mom wanted to have a barbeque at the Cove where live music is played during the summer. The celebration was for her birthday but she didn't want anyone to bring presents, so that part wasn't mentioned. My mom asked me to make the invitation. Unfortunately, she had a crazy week at work and didn't get a chance to send any out. So, it was just us (surrounded by strangers) with lots of food. We had a great time and will be enjoying the food and large carrot cake all week.

Dolphin Park

Here are some pictures of one of our favorite parks in San Diego. Lexi loves to pretend that she is a dolphin trainer. She has even named all of the Dolphins. I know her favorite one is named Daisy. I think she is the start of Lexi's imaginary show.
