Father's Day Prep

Lexi spent the first half of the week preparing for Father's Day. She had lots of cards and pictures to make. We had to send them off to her dad, her grand-dad, and my grandpa. She also made a card and picture for Papa Malcolm. The funny thing is that her dad is the youngest of those four. My Grandpa Law (my dad's dad) is the oldest and then Grand-dad (Steve's dad), and then comes Malcolm and Steve is the youngest. She had fun drawing picture of each of them with her.

Above is a picture of our family that she drew for Steve. Jordan is the little one on the left. Steve has black hair. She told me that he is standing on his tip toes because she is "teaching him ballet." She has blonde hair. My hair is pinkish red. Once she heard that my hair color is strawberry blonde, I became a pinkish haired girl in her pictures. By the way, I love how she draws our ears nice and big.

Kung-Fu Lexi

Sometimes Lexi likes to pretend she is a Kung-Fu Master. We always get a good laugh about it. Here she is practicing before bed last night. Pretty scary if you ask me.

Computer Girl

Every couple of weeks, I let Lexi get on Playhouse Disney's website to play the games. She loves clicking through all the different games. The funniest part about it though is that Jordan loves to sit next to her and watch. It seems boring to me, but he likes it. He never even asks if he can play, which probably will not last long and then they'll have something else to fight over.

San Diego's Old Towne

We went to Old Town this weekend. Of course, most Mormons know that the best parking is at the Mormon Battalion. It is a decent parking lot & it is free. It has also been newly renovated, so we went inside to watch the new movie and pan for gold. During the tour, Lexi volunteered to put on the equipment that they had to carry in their walk across the US. Later, we headed over to one of the many Mexican restaurants.

Interest in Photography

Once a month, Mormon women have an evening where they get together and have little classes on different things. They also usually have dinner and/or dessert. My mom always tries to get me to go with her, but I am not that interested. This week, however, they had a professional photographer coming. She showed a bunch of her photos and gave tips. One of her tips was to take lots & lots of photos. I know I do not need any encouragement in that area, but the last few days I have been taking more. These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon at the La Jolla Shores park.

Ready for School

Lexi has been showing me in so many ways that she is ready to go back to school. She has been writing random words, lots of artwork, loving her play time at the YMCA (aka pretend to be one of the teachers for the other kids), and finding stuff to keep herself entertained including lots of mischief. Fortunately, I have found a mother’s day out program that has somewhat reasonable rates for two half days a week. I’ll be signing her up for fall.

The Cross on Mount Soledad

Yesterday, after hanging out with Paige at the mall and Best Buy, we stopped at the Cross on Mount Soledad. It is a good place to go near Memorial Day weekend. The park is right by our house and has a great view of many things including the Mormon temple which is being rennovated.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. Sunday afternoon, we went to Balboa Park where there was an international food festival going on. Of course, the kids just wanted brownies from England. The rest of us sampled the baklava from one of the many Mediterranean countries. I have always loved baklava, so I think we got the better deal. We had a picnic at Mission Bay on Memorial Day, but I didn't take my camera or phone so no pictures.

Saturday Outings

We spent quite a bit of time outdoors yesterday enjoying the weather. It is still slightly chilly for my taste. The highs are about 65 degrees. I would prefer 80s, but it is nice for now.

The kids and I went to a park in Mission Bay in the morning. In the early evening, we played t-ball down the street with Grandma and Papa. I enjoyed snapping a few quick pictures with my new phone. The kids just loved being outside.

Friday Night Lights

Friday night was simply fabulous. We went to the dress rehearsal for the new Dolphin Show at SeaWorld call Blue Horizons. It seems like it was under construction for years, but I think they started back in November or December. They pulled off the show without a hitch. It could have used a little more storyline, but we loved it. Good thing because we'll be watching it a lot this year. After the show, SeaWorld was packed so we decided to head out and get food at a place where it is better - Big Kahuna. Yum!

Fiercely Fiona

Yesterday, we went to see Shrek IV. We made sure to get IMAX 3-D tickets. We all liked the movie. Lexi especially liked Fiona. When it was all over, she excitedly told her dad all about when Fiona kicked Shrek in the head, which sounds worse than it was. Who doesn't like a strong woman though???
