Twins' Birthday Party

Today, our friends that are twins had their 6th birthday party at a bowling/family/fun place. Lexi and Jordan haven't been bowling very much (other than our wii), so this was a real treat. Plus, we got to see our friends. Since school started, we haven't been able to do that very often. They go to an elementary school close to Lexi's.

Little Chef

Unlike Jordan, Lexi is usually not that interested in helping with dinner. She prefers coloring or doing some type of craft. This evening, she decided that cooking would be fun, probably because Jordan had announced that he wanted us to have pigs-in-a-blanket. Something in that sounded appealing to her, so I let her roll the pigs. She did a great job and quite enjoyed herself.

PJs from Papa

When we were in California, Papa Malcolm got the kids these pjs. He bought a size bigger for them and it has worked out great. As soon as the weather turned a little cooler about a month ago, I pulled them out. Last night, they both put them on and I decided to take a few photos.

they asked me to join them...

Turkey Art

This afternoon, when Jordan and I picked Lexi up from school, a little boy from her class came running out first with a strange picture. He was so excited to hand it to his mother, who was standing near me. I saw his picture and had NO idea what it was (modern art?). Lexi came out with the same project and it was easy to see that hers was a turkey. His mom happened to see Lexi's turkey too and commented on how great it was.

I often forget that Lexi is quite artistically talented for her age. I guess the piles of paper filled with coloring and various glued creations that constantly cover my downstairs are really paying off. At least, I know she enjoys tapping into this creative side.

New Shoes from Dad

The kids spent Friday night with their dad. In the morning, he took them to Academy to buy Lexi new tennis shoes. The ones she has been wearing were falling apart. She was very excited to show her friends at school today.

Halloween Party

We went to a Halloween party tonight at our friend's house and had a great time. The kids love hanging out with them. They laugh, giggle and love every mintute of it. The older kids started chanting, "Trick-or-treat. Smell my feet. Give me something good to eat. If you don't, I don't care I'll pull down your underwear." I certainly didn't encourage it, but I did see how Lexi was lighting up because she had actually learned that from friends at school this week.

2011 Trunk-or-Treat - Part 2

We went to another trunk-or-treat tonight. Our friends who are LDS, but attend another ward (congregation) invited us to go with them. The kids loved seeing each others’ costumes and going around gathering candy with their friends. We got to spend time with a cowgirl, Moaning Myrtle, a nice witch, and a surfer.

2011 Trunk-or-Treat

Tonight was our church trunk-or-treat party. I was in charge of bringing two water coolers full of ice and water. I also signed up to bring corn bread. I asked Steve to come along & handle the coolers. It was a fairly cold night, so I had to add layers to Lexi's costume.

The evening started off with people decorating their trunks. I only had pumpkins that Lexi, Jordan and I glues ribbons onto. Then, we had chilli and corn bread for dinner. There were games for the kids to play. Finally, it was trunk-or-treat time. I handed out candy while Steve walked the kids around filling their pumpkins up with TOO many sweets.

Halloween Spirit

Sadly, public schools here do not allow the classrooms to celebrate traditional holidays. There are fun little ways around it like this week is Red Ribbon Week. It is a week devoted to saying no to drugs. On Monday, they had cowboy dress-up day because kids give drugs the boot. On Tuesday, it was school spirit day so Lexi wore her bling shirt. On Wednesday, it was sunglasses day, because drugs are shady. Today, it was slippers day and I don't remember the point. I had Lexi skip out on this one. I thought a nice Halloween shirt would be better, especially since tomorrow is red, white and blue day.
