Camp Journey Trunk or Treat

Lexi decided that she wanted to be Coca-Cola for Halloween. She wanted a red Coca-Cola t-shirt, striped knee socks, and a tutu. It was cheap and easy, so I went for it even though we rarely drink soda. She got to wear her costume tonight to Camp Journey's Halloween Party and Trunk or Treat. Camp Journey is where she volunteered over the summer for special needs kids and adults. I took pictures of her with some of her friends that also volunteer. The picture is of Riley (Astros player), Serenity (Super Girl), Lexi (Coca-Cola), and Brock (11 from Stranger Things). No surprise, they had fun tonight. 

Not Playing at the SLJH Game

Tonight was the biggest game of the season in volleyball. The top 2 teams played. Sadly, Lexi and the girl that she rotates in with were hurt. A broken arm and a sprained foot knocked them both out for the rest of the season. The team just wasn't the same without them. They lost.

Injured Foot

Yesterday, Lexi hurt her foot in tumbling class. I noticed at the end of class that she was trying not to put her foot down while doing push-ups. That seemed odd to me, but she walked out of there pretty normal. As soon as we got out of the main door, she started complaining that her foot had been hurt really badly. She was faking that she was ok. She wanted me to take her to the emergency room. I figured that it wasn't broken if she could walk on it and fake that it was ok. She demanded though and I explained that I simply don't have the money for that. I honestly don't. She has insurance through her dad, but the deductibles are HUGE and he rarely helps me with it. I knew going to the emergency room would end up costing over $2,000. I just can't do that, especially when I was sure that it wasn't broken. She was crying and angry at me, but I took her home. I had her put oils on it and I offered her Tylenol, which we rarely if ever use. I told her we would deal with it tomorrow. I knew that would give us some time to see how bad it was.

By the next morning, she was still complaining and couldn't put pressure on it. It wasn't swollen or bruised though. Fortunately, we have a friend at church that is a podiatrist. I called his wife and got an appointment this morning. I also borrowed crutches from a friend. I took her in and his assistant did x-rays in the office. He told us that her foot was sprained and that it would take 2 - 5 weeks to heal. That was pretty sad news since it will ruin the rest of her volleyball season and possibly make her miss basketball try-out which are in exactly 2 weeks from today. Of course, cheer will be effected too. He was kind enough to give us a walking boot for her. Hopefully, that speeds up this process. 

Morton Ranch Game

They played Morton Ranch Junior High tonight, which is across town. It was raining when we arrived, but would pass. Before the game started, the cheerleaders practiced on the sidelines. They had a little accident and Ava was dropped. Lexi was one of her bases. She said when they lifted her, she didn't go up with them. To make matters worse, the other base did not let go of her foot so she twisted back and landed on her spotter, Mia. Both of them ended up banged up and crying before the game started. They snapped out of it though and went on to do the stunt perfectly during half time.

Conference

Every 6 months, we watch general conference, which is broadcast by our church. It is a nice break from going to church and a good way to be connected with the prophet and apostles. They made some exciting announcements like church is going to be cut back to only 2 hours on Sunday starting in January. That is HUGE! They also said they'll be building 12 more temples. They have never announced that many at one time before. Our new president is on fire. 

Volleyball Pictures

The volleyball team had to stay a little late today to take team pictures. I saw Kacy and Lexi coming home and couldn't resist. See Lexi's scowl? Yep - that's what I often have to put up with when taking her photo. 

Pink Volleyball Day

Lexi's school played volleyball against a team from a different district. Unfortunately, the school that came only had an A and B team. They still got to play though our 8th grade C team played the 7th grade C team. One of the girls on the 7th team made shirts for all the players and gave them nicknames. It was so cute. Lexi was the Atomic Blonde, which is quite fitting actually.
