Lexi is wearing a new scarf that she was given yesterday at her birthday party. She looked so cute dressed up for church that I decided to take a picture. Also, church starts at 11 am this year. Last year, we were at 9 am, so this is much better. It is probably my favorite time. Next year, we'll start at 1 pm.

Fourth Basketball Game
Lexi's basketball game was against a very aggressive team today. They played well though and Lexi is proving to be quite the defensive player.

Birthday Girl
This birthday girl got up early and pulled a cupcake out of the refrigerator. I got a nice plate of them from some sweet teen girls at church. Lexi is claiming one for herself today. We gave her presents this morning. She got 2 pairs of Converse shoes, which she has been obsessing over and begging to get for MONTHS. Papa & Grandma bought her the pink leopard print ones.

Birthday Dinner
Papa Malcolm took us out for a birthday dinner. We went to Buca de Beppo in north Houston and met up with his daughter (Katy), son-in-law (Jason), and grandson (Jackson). Of course, the food was delicious, but Lexi and I just LOVE Italian food. This was our last night with Grandma and Papa. They are packing up and heading to San Diego in the morning.

Remember the Alamo
Today was Martin Luther King, Jr. day. The kids had the day off of school, but I had to work. Fortunately for them, Grandma & Papa are in town and offered to take them to San Antonio. They had a wonderful time at the Alamo. Both of them will be talking about this for months and any time the topic is brought up in the future. They got to see the bullet holes and hear the stories. Lexi and Jordan noticed that Papa got a little choked up during one of the stories about the battle. I told them it is great to feel history and sympathize with the people who experienced it.
Grandma and Papa also took them to the River Walk. I love that place and all the fantastic restaurants along the banks.

CAPS
This afternoon, Lexi had a birthday party to go to for one of her friends. We took another friend, Tina, with us. The party was at CAPS, which stands for Citizens for Animal Protection. Of course, this is exactly the kind of party that Lexi LOVES. She wanted to take all of the animals home with her. Yippee for me - not really.
Second Basketball Game
Lexi has her second basketball game (first real one). They played the same team as last week and won again.

First Basketball Game
Lexi had her first basketball game today, which was technically a practice game. She is enjoying her teammates and learning to play. I think she has real potential. This was an exciting game and they did very well. When the team is practicing, you don't know what to expect. This is her coaches first year coaching, so this game was a good way to gauge our talent and figure out how this works. Our team plays well together. It also helped that this team seems easier than the other ones I saw before and after our game. Big boost for the girls though.
I happened to record her first basket.

First Day of the New Year, Last Day with Paige
Happy New Year! We celebrated this fun holiday with Grandma Margie, Papa Malcolm and Aunt Paige. In the morning (mid-morning), we went to the Palladium to watch a movie. As we were walking out, we just had to stop and take pictures with the Star Wars posters and stuff. Yes, we're fans, but Lexi not as much.
Paige couldn't end her trip without some truly authentic Texas BBQ. We went to Midway BBQ in Old Katy for that. The hunting prizes that decorate the walls are all part of the authentic Texas experience. I think Paige really liked one in particular.
