Lexi attended a fabulous birthday party today at her friend, Mya's house. Mya's mom is an amazing scrapbook queen and gets many of her layouts published. Her is the link to this event:

Grandma’s First Chemotherapy
Grandma Margie had her first chemotherapy today. She was feeling great before it started and was a little apprehensive about how she would be feeling later. The first three months, the plan is to have chemo every 3 weeks. After Christmas, she'll switch to every week for another three months. Once that is completed (if everything goes according to plan), they will do a mastectomy and reconstruction.

First Week of King & I Rehearsals
As if Grandma getting breast cancer, Hurricane Harvey, church, and regular life is not hectic enough, I had my kids, two friends from church, and a neighbor try out for the King & I at World Theater. Not only did they make it into the play, but at the read-through I was asked to join the cast as one of the wives. We have four rehearsals a week for the next six weeks. While it seems like too much to take on, it also seems like an amazing opportunity. The Director was a director on Broadway and has worked with Audrey Hepburn, Mickey Rooney, and Julio Iglesias to name a few. The kids don't know any of those actors, but they were impressed when I told them.

Nail Salon Party
Hurricane Harvey hit our area pretty hard. It dumped an insane amount of water here. School has been out for 10 days (Sept 1st - tomorrow). Many of our friends at church lost their homes in the flooding. School is back in tomorrow, so one of the ladies from church invited all the girls to her house this afternoon for a nail salon party. She wanted to help them all look good for their second first day. They had so much fun being together and now they'll look cute too.

Walking Home
Lexi and the neighbor girls loved 6th Grade today. They got to catch up with friends, experience new things, feel more mature, and homework hasn't started yet. What's not to like?
First Day of 6th Grade
This girl is so ready for sixth grade. She is all about hanging out with friends and doing her own thing. She has an alarm clock and is determined to do everything for herself in the morning, even though I'll always be up. She was a little nervous, but mostly exited to started. She has to be there an hour earlier than elementary school.

Bear Blast
This evening, we went to the Junior High for Bear Blast. This is when they hand-out schedules and the kids get to walk their schedules as many times as they would like. Her first class is PE (downstairs). Then she heads upstairs to the 6th grade hall for most of her classes. She has lunch downstairs at 10:00 am (A lunch). Her last class is Art, which is also downstairs. We walked the schedule 5 times. I don't know if she has it memorized, but I definitely do.

Cub Camp
Cub Camp was today. It is 6th grade orientation. They call it Cub Camp because their mascot is a bear and the 6th graders are little cubs. They feel very mature though. Kacy and Cole's parents dropped them off so they could go with Lexi. I walked all the neighborhood kids to the school. They loved every minute of it, especially seeing friends and touring the school.

Heading Back to Texas
Grandma finally got her car back from the repair shop and I finished a big proposal, so we set off on our way back to Texas. I'll be doing a lot of driving because we are ready to be home. These pictures were in Arizona at a Rest Area.

Old Town with Us
We were supposed to head back to Texas a few days ago, but Grandma and Jordan were involved in a little accident. She rear-ended someone with a bicycle rack on the back of their vehicle. It didn't do anything to their car, but Grandma's grill was pushed in. While it sits in the shop, we get to continue the fun California life with Aunt Paige. Today after church, we all went to Old Town.
