We had a crazy amazing day with our Texas friends at SeaWorld. In the morning, we saw the Shamu show. Lexi rode the Rapids Ride with them and I took pictures and video (below). We also ate lunch then went home for nap time/rest. Last night, we went back and got to see the Dolphin Show, ride Elmo's Flying Fish Bowl, watch Bill & Cole ride the rollercoaster, see Shamu Rocks, and watch the fireworks. Of course it was a late night.
We are extremely lucky this week with friends coming to town. Last night, some of our close friends from Texas flew in. Bill, Katy, Kasey & Cole will be here all weekend. We took them to Lexi & Jordan's favorite restaurant, Bird Rock Pizza. We also went to the cove so they could see the seals, run around in the grass, and climb trees. Kasey and Cole are twins that are about a month and a half older than Lexi. The three of them spend lots of time giggling and Jordan does his best to join in.
We have some friends from Texas visiting La Jolla this week for a family reunion. We went to hang out with them last night. They have 3 girls, but one HATES her picture being taken.
I signed Lexi up for Pirate Camp at the YMCA. She goes this whole week and does pirate themed things. They look for treasure, sing pirate songs, play pirate games, and make pirate crafts. She is loving it.
Some of our friends from Utah (the ones we stayed with this year - Annette & her family) came to San Diego to visit their grandparents. We were able to meet up with them yesterday at La Jolla Shores. It is still a little chilly, but the kids all had fun.
This year, I have been teaching Lexi to swim. Partly because it is cheaper than hiring someone else to do it, partly because her amazing teacher from last year is in Texas, and partly because he was such a great teacher I felt I could copy his method. It is working out very well and she is coming along better than I had hoped. The only draw back has been the record setting cold temperatures. How can one get motivated to go to the pool when the highs have only hit the low 60s? It is HORRIBLE. Can you tell we've been living in the South for a long time? I actually miss the heat.
Fortunately, the sun came out this afternoon so we went down to our community pool and had a lesson. I would love to take more pictures (with my real camera instead of my phone) and some videos, but it is tough enough to help 2 kids swim.
I took a few pictures and a video of Jordan last night while I was giving Lexi a bath, so I couldn't leave her out. Here are a few photos of her in the tub.
We had a great 4th of July. It started with Papa Malcolm heading down to the Cove around 5am to save us a spot. He set up a tent and dropped off the Suburban with chairs and stuff in it. Around 1pm, he dropped Paige and a cooler full of food off. All this was going on while we were doing our normal Sunday activities which include the kids going to church with Grandma and afternoon naps/quiet time for Lexi & Jordan.
When J woke up, we all headed down there. We had a bbq, walked around the Cove to see the strange people, seals, sea lions, etc. Of course, the kids also provided entertainment for us before the live music and firework show started. It was quite a fun celebration.
This morning, I took a few photos of the kids in their 4th of July outfits that they wore to church. Later, I put them in different clothes to go down to the Cove. Here are the photos of Lexi.
