It is Spring Break here in Texas. We started our week off with a morning at Inflatables.

In the Front Yard
This afternoon after we came back from school with Lexi, we stayed outside and
played along with our next door neighbors. Our neighbors are usually in the
street, so I don't let Lexi and Jordan spend much time with them. Today,
however, I talked them into playing with balls on the small strip of lawn
between our houses.

Long Hair
I usually braid Lexi's hair, but today I let her wear it down. I decided to take a few photos. The top one is in our backyard and the bottom one is in the park across the street from our house.

Park Time
A little over a week ago, I took Jordan to a playgroup at a park we've never been to before. It was a great park. We have been wanting to take Lexi to it. The weather was great today, so that is what we did.

Kara's 8th Birthday Party
We went to a fun birthday party today for our friend, Kara. She turned eight. There were lots of great stations that the kids rotated to. They had stations for bracelet making, a sugar cookie decorating, a painting on canvas, mask decorating, finger-print card making, origami and more. The kids had a blast and enjoyed being with our friends.
Mutton Bustin Girl
It's Katy Rodeo time ya'll! The local rodeo is one of our favorite events and this year was especially exciting because I finally signed Lexi up to do Mutton Bustin. She has been wanting to do it since we first came to the rodeo when she was 2 years old. The age limits are 5 - 8 and the kids have to be under 60 lbs. They also have to go to school in the local school district as this is a Katy ISD event. Sadly, I hadn't signed her up on the first day of applications, so she was only confirmed as an alternate. Our fingers were crossed for over a week that she'd be able to do it.
We arrived extra early because I wanted to MAKE SURE we had a good seat. They have about 5,000 people a night. We were 2 hours early because it is always cool to walk around in the pavilion and check out the FFA animals before it gets too crowded too. We saw pigs, goats, sheep, bunnies, and cattle. Lexi likes to pet all of them.
Once the gates opened, I took Lexi down to the registration booth for final weigh-in. They gave us her contestant number to pin on her back and told her she'd be in the second/final round of Mutton Bustin.
Her time finally arrived. She was a little nervous until she got down there with the other kids. There were 11 kids in her round. She was the very last one. I took the first video from the arena. Sorry it is shaky. They made us crouch down and my knees couldn't handle it for that long.
This video was taken by a friend in the stands:
Lexi was #24.
Back in the stands with our friends, Jordan, & Steve. There also happened to be a bunch of families from church several rows behind us, so Lexi had a great cheering crowd.
Lexi's new love: her trophy. She named the sheep on top Goldie.
Lexi is already talking about doing it again next year. Maybe we can convince a few friends to sign up with her.

Valentines 2013
First thing this morning, Lexi asked me to take a video of her singing a song she heard yesterday at school. She wasn't very confident with the words and actions, but it was cute.
The kids were very excited about Valentine's Days. We had several friends drop off little treat bags for them yesterday and today. Sadly, I didn't manage to take pictures of those. I did happen to take pictures of Jordan and Lexi this morning opening the package from Grandma Margie and the books that I gave them. I got the books from one of the class fund raisers at Jordan's school.
Ready for school
I went to Lexi's school to have lunch with her today. She has been asking me to go for a while, but work has been too crazy. I just knew I had to go today because I would be going to Jordan's school for his Valentine party. I took a picture of Lexi with Melissa, her best friend (from school).

Valentine Service Project
This week, the first graders at Lexi's elementary school are working on a service project. They are decorating tissue boxes for a nursing home. Yesterday, I went to Hobby Lobby to get foam hearts and such for Lexi to take to school. I saw these cute Valentine socks on sale and decided that she should dress festively while she is creating her masterpiece.
