It is Spring Break this week and it has been pretty tough because I am swamped with work. However, we have had fun with friends, especially today. We were invited to Science Camp. Our friends planned and set it all up. We just showed up. Each of the moms was assigned to a science station. The kids were split up into groups. Lexi was part of the 5 & 6 year olds that also included Camden and Kara. They started off making gak (blue rubber). Next, they went outside to test objects floating. Last, they were in my station, which had 4 experiments. We tried to see if tap water was heavier or lighter than salt water. We put shiny pennies into vinegar. We put dirty pennies into lemon juice. We also worked on creating static by combing their hair and touching the comb to tissue paper.
When all the stations were done, the kids gathered around the island to make ice cream. We had a picnic outside and the kids tasted their ice cream. Our grand finale was at the park. It involved household explosives. We had baking powder and vinegar for one. The other one was Diet Coke and Menthos. They were quite interesting combinations.
